A New Way of Experiencing American Sign Language and English
                ASL Tales
Vocabulary The ASL Tales Way Any language needs vocabulary to create a message, but in the case of ASL, learning sign has been often misunderstood to mean learning vocabulary. Link to any of our sample pages by clicking on a book cover and you'll see that ASL is so much more than sign language words. Sometimes the English word and the ASL word are the same.  When that happens, we teach the word in isolation and then how it appears in the story.   These are shown in the DVD Glossary. Frequently languages use different words/ideas to share the same message.  Because we use English words to describe signs, this is often a challenge for ASL learners.   The ASL Clues teach that sign, show you were to identify it in the ASL text, and provide an explanation for its use.
